Stevie Nicks Style

Nicole Couch

For some ideas on how to bring Stevie Nicks' style into your modern wardrobe, have a look at the outfits below! These ensembles are created using many pieces that most of us already own. Incorporating looks like this into what you wear every day will have you dancing to your favorite Fleetwood Mac songs in no time.

This look is a take on Stevie's iconic gothic style--a black ethereal dress paired with celestial earrings are chic and edgy, and a pair of heeled, knee-high boots in a contrasting suede finish the look in a classic Stevie way. No matter her ensemble, knee-high boots are often a big component.   Stevie is also known for mixing and matching textiles and textures. If there's one thing we can take away from her style, it's to stop stressing about being so matchy-matchy!

For a more casual look, we're in love with these flattering denim overalls paired with a boho kimono. The flared legs of the overalls are totally Stevie, and the embroidered star boots finish off the look in such a cool and effortless way. This outfit would look great with a little satin tank, as shown above, but any sort of graphic tee, tank top, or blouse would look totally cool with this whole ensemble.

This boho look plays on Stevie's softer, more ethereal looks. A pair of earth-toned culottes paired with an embroidered, lightweight blouse are pretty and feminine, and a pair of white calf-high boots make the look a little sharper. A hat and beaded moon necklace are two accessories that are so Stevie.   This is a great look for just about any day that can be worn casually or for something slightly more formal.

Finally, this ensemble that was styled by @magicfabricride on ShopLook is such a classic Stevie look. We love the unusual combination of fabrics and prints, and each accessory brings in an edgy flare that we know Stevie would love. Art Deco Evolution

Nicole Couch

“Art Deco” is the name of a style era that bloomed after World War I. Everything from fashion to interior furnishings and household appliances to cars were influenced by this glitzy, high-tech style. The aesthetical intent of this era was for people to believe in a technologically-advanced future of glamour and luxury. The Art Deco look is heavy with geometric patterns, dark colors like satin black and emerald green, and lots of gold. Velvet is very prominent, as are shapes and tones of jewels, which give the appearance of wealth and tangible success.

Today, Art Deco is still a very popular style in both fashion and interior decorating. The last few years in particular boasted trends of gold, velvet, and glittery details that seemed to be as fresh and prominent as they were in the early 1900s. At this point, the ultra-flashy parts of Art Deco have arguably fallen to the wayside a bit, and a softer and more relaxed "retro" has filled in the gaps. Softer color palettes with more subdued and velvety hues have replaced harsh shapes and flashy textures. The glitzier parts that were in our faces for so long have had their time and are now retiring into a more mature and elegantly-sophisticated look. Currently, my favorite trends and ways of decorating include simple, classic, modern, and somewhat minimalist bases with Art Deco-inspired details and flares throughout. The "Millennial Pink" fad has lent itself perfectly to this trend.

Now, Art Deco feels fresh and sweet, yet it remains a very unique and retro style. New trends have come into play, but for as long as "Art Deco" lives, its characteristics will be unmistakable. In fashion, interior decorating, and every other aspect, this is one trend that I truly hope never dies.

Halloween Edition: Becoming Audrey Hepburn

Nicole Couch

One of the most popular Halloween costumes is Audrey Hepburn's signature look in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Who wouldn't want to wear that amazing dress with all the diamonds and pearls accessories? Well, this Halloween you can, because CHC Vintage is going to help you turn into Audrey Hepburn and other characters from your favorite films!

Step 1: You need a dress with a certain shape. In Breakfast at Tiffany's, Audrey wears a dress with a distinct shape. It is has a scooped neck, it is sleeveless, and it hugs any curve she might have had. While we don't have a dress the exact same color, we do have a dress the exact same shape!

Step 2: The accessories. You have to find a tiara and long cigarette holder to pull off this look. Don't forget that statement pearl necklace along with the black gloves and diamond stud earrings.  For shoes, we went with the comfy look and kept the converse in. You can do that too! Mix it up and make this costume your own.

Step 3: Keep the makeup simple. For a fun night, keep yourself looking fresh. A light foundation and not a lot of blush or contour. The only thing you have to apply a lot of is mascara for that signature doe-eyed Audrey Hepburn look!

Fall Trends 2017

Nicole Couch

With the start of fall on Friday, a new season of trends as started. While you might be thinking ‘I know the trends. Wear burgundy, boots, and have a pumpkin spice latte in my hand,’ you would be wrong. Well, not entirely wrong, but this season brings about a whole new set of trends that are so cute, you’ll throw the burgundy sweater to the side (but don’t throw it too far. You’ll want it back).

One trend seen all over runways and in stores is fringe. And fringe can come on a lot of vintage clothing, like from CHC Vintage. It’s a fun way to look dressed up while wearing a comfortable jacket or shirt. Having the fringe hang from the sleeves of your shirt or even on an understated bag and liven up any look this fall.

Another big trend is fur. Right now, the humid weather wouldn’t allow everyone to go out and wear a cumbersome fur coat. However, as we digress into colder months, fur will be everywhere. Have it plain or liven it up with some color. Just be sure to double check that it’s fake!

Thank goodness for this next one - lounge wear! Grab those leggings, a comfortable t-shirt and throw your hair in a messy bun. Keep it classy or make it grunge (there are really cute vintage tees from CHC Vintage to help with this look). Have a more leisurewear look with some workout pants and a pair of sneakers. Comfortable will be your favorite look this fall season.

Last but not least, keep a lookout for anything shiny. Metallics, glitters, and anything that sparkles is a must have this fall. Rock a full metallic outfit or keep it simple with some sequins on your favorite shirt, pants, or dress. Tis the season to be shiny!

The upcoming season is full of fringe, glitter, and comfiness. Make sure you shop at CHC Vintage to get an even more unique look this fall!

Transition into Fall with Ease and CHC Vintage Clothing

Nicole Couch

Women all across America relish in the fall weather. The temperature outside starts to drop, while pumpkin spice food and drink items start to grace grocery store shelves. However, the best part of fall is definitely the fashion.

Before it becomes completely fall with those cute boots and comfy sweaters with jackets, there is a transition period. The weather starts off in the morning as a cool 50°F, rises to 80°F during the middle of the day, and the drops again for cool nights. So the question is: What do I wear?

No one wants to be shivering one minute and sweating the next. So you have to be prepared. Step one is to put away the shorts. Instead, break out the jeans, skirts, and cute dresses that are colored and appropriate for fall. You will look cute while being comfortable and not too hot or too cold. CHC Vintage has plenty of fall sweater dresses, skirts, and more to give you that unique look while keeping you the right temperature.

Break out the jackets! Bomber jackets, army jackets, leather jackets, and more are the perfect piece for the September and October months. When you wear a cute T-shirt and start getting cold, throw on that jacket to keep you warm. When you get too hot, take it off. Everyone needs the perfect jacket in their closet. Check out all of the cute outerwear pieces at CHC Vintage to find outerwear to keep with you during the day.

Do not be afraid to try new things! And those new things can be old. CHC Vintage sells vintage clothing to you that is unique and matches your style, or puts you out of your comfort zone. The best way to transition into a new season is to try something new. Visit CHC Vintage online or on our Etsy store to find amazing vintage clothing for a new look this season.

Why You Should Buy More Vintage

Nicole Couch

Here are a few reasons why we think you should buy more vintage.

When you buy vintage, you're buying clothes that are unique or rare. This means that you're chances of matching anyone else is highly unlikely.

Most of the clothing in today's fast fashion chain stores are made of cheap materials to save on costs. Contrarily, most vintage items were created with more attention to detail & prove their higher quality by withstanding the test of time.

Because big fashion retailers decide to skip costs and use cheaper materials, their mass produced clothing items are more likely to be damaged, broken or go out of style quicker than their vintage counterparts. So why not spend a little extra to get something that lasts?

Many times newer trends are just old trends reinvented. By buying vintage you're basically buying the 'real thing'...the clothes that were cool BEFORE it was cool. Tell that to your trendy friends...

Wearing vintage ensures that you'll have your own unique look. Since it's not something displayed in store windows anymore, you really have stylistic freedom and can get creative with it however you want.

Buying Vintage = Recycling = Saving the Planet.

It is estimated that the world is consuming 400% more clothing than we did just 20 years ago (Livia Firth, The True Cost). So step up and do your part! Keep trendy vintage in rotation.

Lastly,

You're unique, beautiful and rare. There is no one quite like you. So don't buy clothes that disguise that! Invest in clothes that understand what it's like to be one-of-a-kind.
